An open day was held on the 19th of April 2008 to mark the completion of the Te Anau-Manapouri airport redevelopment.

The project comprised of; extending the existing main runway, allowing for new runway end requirements, a cross wind grass runway, terminal apron, fuel storage and dispensing area, a new terminal building which includes an historic area, on site  stormwater and waste water disposal systems, all power services upgraded and undergrounded, an access road, a new carpark, busparks, landscaping and fencing.
