Rodney District Council

Rodney District Council is leading a process to provide a direct road between the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and the Northern Motorway. The project has three components:

1. The Weiti Toll Road, a 7km road from Whangaparaoa Road to the Northern Motorway at Redvale, including a bridge over the Weiti River (refer photomontage below).
2. A new motorway interchange to be built by Transit New Zealand, to connect the Weiti Toll Road to State Highway 1 at Redvale with the realignment of East Coast Road (refer photomontage below).
3. Widening of Whangaparaoa Road from D'Oyly Drive to Ladies Mile with the first stage being the 1km section from Brightside Road to Arklow Lane with an intersection linking to the toll road opposite Beverly Road (refer photomontage below).

Projenz have been involved with Penlink since 1999 and took over the management  of the project in 2003. With the recent introduction of the Regional Fuel Tax legislation to the House the funding hurdles, necessary to enable the project to go to tender, are all but cleared.
